African Women’s day Community Outreach Program
n commemoration of African Women’s Day on July 31st 2024, IRIAD and The Electoral Hub conducted community outreach programs in Dakwo and Lubge. Our efforts centered on empowering roadside petty traders through the distribution of essential items and civic education on their rights and responsibilities.
We sensitized them on the significance of African Women’s Day and highlighted the invaluable contributions of African women to their communities. We emphasized their pivotal role in the electoral process as voters, party agents, and party members, among others. Our activities focused on illuminating the current political landscape, particularly the underrepresentation of women in political and public offices. We encouraged them to support and vote for women candidates in upcoming elections. To enhance their comfort during our outreach, we provided umbrellas as a gesture especially with the rainy season.
By engaging with these women, we aim to cultivate a culture of inclusivity and civic responsibility, ensuring their voices are heard and their votes are counted.
