Algorithms and You

Algorithms are designed to keep you engaged. To do this, they show you content similar to what you’ve already liked or agreed with. While this can feel personalized, it can also create a “filter bubble.”
A filter bubble is your own personal, unique universe of information that you live in online. You are isolated from different perspectives because the algorithm “filters” them out. This can make it harder to understand others, weaken public debate, and make society more divided.
Pro-Tip: Actively seek out different news sources and follow people with different viewpoints to “pop” your bubble!
