International Day for the Elimination of Sexual Violence in Conflict 2025

Today, on the International Day for the Elimination of Sexual Violence in Conflict, we bring attention to the urgent need to end sexual violence used as a weapon of war. Established by the UN to honor survivors and victims, this day reminds us that sexual violence in conflict zones continues to devastate lives, especially those of women and girls, while perpetrators often go unpunished.
Survivors face immense stigma, limited access to healthcare, and barriers to justice and support. Despite being disproportionately affected, women and girls remain underrepresented in peace and humanitarian decision-making. It is time to break the silence, end impunity, and ensure survivors are heard and supported.
We call for increased funding for protection programs, the inclusion of survivors and women as leaders in peacebuilding, and the protection of healthcare workers and facilities. Together, we can promote justice, accountability, and a world free from sexual violence in conflict.
