International Day of Persons with Disabilities

This day December 3, 2025, the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, IRIAD joins the global community in reaffirming our commitment to equity, dignity, and inclusion.
This year’s theme, “Fostering Disability-Inclusive Societies for Advancing Social Progress” reminds us that true development is only possible when every person, regardless of ability, is empowered to participate fully in social, economic, and political life.
We call on governments, institutions, and communities to champion accessibility and inclusion, amplify the voices of persons with disabilities, and ensure no one is left behind. Inclusion is not an act of charity, it’s is a pathway to shared development, equity, and justice.
Disability is not inability.
With the right tools, every individual can participate fully, live with dignity, and reach their full potential.
From mobility devices to communication aids and digital tools, assistive technologies transform lives and ensure that no one is excluded.
As a society, we must prioritise accessibility, demand accountability, and champion the rights of Persons with Disabilities (PWDs).
Let’s build a Nigeria where inclusion is the standard.

Legal frameworks are only the first step. To truly safeguard the rights of PWDs, we must ensure full implementation, accountability, and inclusive systems that leave no one behind.
NOW is the time for these commitments to be implemented so every Nigerian can live, work, and participate without barriers.
