INTERNATIONAL DAY FOR THE ELIMINATION OF SEXUAL VIOLENCE IN CONFLICTS June 19, 2026
Theme: Conflict-Related Sexual Violence Against Children – Safeguarding Futures and Empowering Caregivers
Conflict-related sexual violence (CRSV) steals childhood and futures. When we safeguard children today, we protect peace for tomorrow. Caregivers are the frontline of prevention.
CRSV means sexual violence tied to armed conflict. Children, women and vulnerable groups face the highest risk. Critical stakeholders including caregivers must lead by breaking silence, rejecting stigma, and teaching body safety early. Together we create safe spaces where children learn, play and grow without fear.
1. Let’s empower caregivers with knowledge and support to protect children.
2. Let’s enforce laws with zero tolerance so perpetrators face justice, no impunity.
3. Let’s break stigma, educate communities, and keep every space safe for reporting.
4. Let’s listen, believe survivors, and report to NAPTIP, Police Gender Desks, or trusted CSOs.
5. Let’s fund survivor-centered care: medical, psychosocial, legal aid, and shelters, while amplifying voices with dignity.
Justice heals; Prevention protects. Safeguarding children now is safeguarding our future.
