OPEN NASS WEEK 2026

Did you know?
Women occupy only 75 seats out of 1,461 in Nigeria’s legislatures (Senate, House of Representatives, and State Houses of Assembly) that’s just 5.1% of all legislators at both Federal and State levels

1. Senate: 4 of 109 (3.7%)
2. House of Reps: 16 of 360 (4.4%)
3. State level: 55 of 991 (5.5%) seats across 36 State Houses of Assembly
4. 15 states have 0 female legislators

This gap silences millions of Nigerian women and PWDs from the laws and policies that shape their lives. A democracy cannot stand when half its people are missing from the decision-making table.

It’s time to demand change. The Special Seats Bill for Women isn’t just about fairness. It’s about stronger institutions, inclusive laws, and a democracy that benefits everyone irrespective of gender.

Attend NASS Open Week 2026. Speak up. Stand for inclusion.

Together, let’s push for reforms that guarantee representation for ALL Nigerians.
